Trisomy Oz Prenatal Support

Ending Your Pregnancy

Whether or not to continue your pregnancy following a poor prenatal diagnosis is an extremely personal decision, and no one has the right to judge another's chosen course. This site simply aims to help you to gather the necessary information to ensure you understand the implications of whichever path you choose.

After hearing your medical practitioner's views, it may be worth considering other opinions. The following links provide a range of perspectives from factual data to personal accounts, and may give you a clearer understanding of what termination entails.

Choosing the right counsellor or support organisation can be tough. If at any point you feel you are being pressured, or that essential information is being kept from you in order to influence your decision, it may be time to look for more objective support.

At Trisomy Oz it is not our intention to criticise the decisions of any parent who has received a difficult prenatal diagnosis. We believe strongly that parents in this situation have a right to good information and accessible emotional support. Most importantly, we feel it needs to be acknowledged that regardless of the circumstances, parents choosing to terminate have lost their babies too, and that their grief is often as intense and as long-lasting as that of any other grieving parent.

Should you be in need of grief support following a termination, the following links and resources may be of help.
